Former Green Teacher Arrested on Rape Charges
Grand jury returns nine counts after Summit County Sheriff's investigation

GREEN, Ohio: A former City of Green Schools teacher is in the Summit County Jail after a grand jury indicted him on rape and sexual battery charges. The Summit County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest Sept. 30. How the investigation began A woman contacted the Summit County Sheriff's Office in October to report a sexual assault. She told investigators the abuse happened when she was a student at Green Middle School. She said it began when she was 13 years old. The suspect is a 64 year old North Canton man. The woman reported numerous sexual encounters with him between 1997 and 1999. Investigators said the activity happened on and off school property. The Sheriff's Detective Bureau opened an investigation into the allegations. Detectives later found additional female students who also engaged in sexual activity with the man while he worked for City of Green Schools. Charges returned by the grand jury The Summit County Prosecutor's Office presented the case to the Summit County Grand Jury on Sept. 29. The grand jury returned nine counts against the man. Here are the charges: Three counts of rape, each a first degree felony Six counts of sexual battery, each a third degree felony An indictment is a formal accusation. It is not a finding of guilt. Arrest and booking The United States Marshals Northeast Ohio Fugitive Task Force and the Summit County Sheriff's Office located and arrested the man on Sept. 30. He was booked into the Summit County Jail. Investigation continues Investigators are working to learn whether there are more victims.
